Hillary: A CoverGirl Like None Other
The American people are tired of liars and pretending to be something they are not. Hillary Clinton, 1992
Hillary finally answered a burning question that very few, if anyone, was asking. She admitted, in a poorly feigned Southern drawl, that she has colored her hair for years. Fascinating. A 67 year old woman isn’t a natural blonde. Clairol now knows the answer to their age old question, “Does she or doesn’t she?”
But why is she pretending to be something that she is not? She is an elderly woman, but a dead-broke, bottle blonde when she and Bill left the Whitehouse? Not so much. As soon as she announced she was running because “Everyday Americans need a champion,” the champion went under cover in a big, black van named Scooby, refusing to talk to the press, or even chat with the every day Iowans, while waiting in line for a Chipotle burrito. She has tweeted just once about her unilateral destruction of 30,000 emails, and thankfully, a federal judge has recently ordered that the State Department release any and all recovered emails on a monthly basis, denying their request to respond in January 2016. Perhaps the process of reviewing these carefully selected files from her under-cover server would have been accomplished in a timely fashion if she would have released these emails in their electronic format. Instead, she chose to print them.
Everyday we are reminded of her failures as Secretary of State. A Russian reset must equate to Russia building a second nuclear facility in Iran? What difference does it make? A big difference according to the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) and a majority of American voters. Everyday we are reminded that the Clinton Foundation leveraged their power using of one of their own as head of our State Department. Everyday we are reminded that Clintons are synonymous with scandals. And, everyday we are reminded that Hillary Clinton chooses to cover herself in a cloak of silence.
Although questions from the press, and the voting public, remain unanswered, her polling numbers are giving us plenty of answers when it comes to her trustworthiness and electability. A majority of voters believe that Hillary Clinton is a liar. Maybe this is why Hillary Clinton needs to do a second announcement of her candidacy from Roosevelt Park in New York on June 13th? The park honors the four freedoms that Franklin D. Roosevelt outlined in his 1941 State of the Union address — freedom of speech, religion, freedom from want and freedom from fear. How does a woman who vows to amend the first amendment stand in a place dedicated to freedom of speech?
Hillary once said that, “If I want to knock a story off the front page, I change my hairstyle.” At the rate that these scandals are making headlines, she is going to have one busy hairdresser, and in the words of her icon, FDR, “The truth is found when men are free to pursue it.” The truth will be found by the free men and women that will challenge her in the first of many presidential debates, or by a press who, perhaps, will do their legal and civic duty. Questions will be asked and they will have to be answered. The Covergirl, with or without a new hairstyle, cannot remain silent and under cover much longer.
